Where people share and discover artistic talent and more
Where people share and discover artistic talent and more
I am based in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Our country has had some difficult times. This gives its people a strength, humour and hope that inspires creativity. Irish art has a firm position in the art world. Historically, Irish art has focused on landscapes and village scenes. I hope I bring something different to the market. My work is driven by memories of the past and hopes for the future. I paint abstract art. I paint so that my two boys grow to believe that anything is possible, that anything can be achieved if you want it and are prepared to put the hard work in. I put a bit of myself into each piece. I want my family to be proud of the work I produce and this drives me everyday.
I am currently showing in a number of galleries in Belfast, the UK and US. I am reaching out in 2013. I hope my work makes people stop and look, to read what ...
they want into it. To decipher what it means to them. I want it to make them think, stop for a minute from everyday life and think. I want my work to be a part of peoples lives.
I am hugely influenced by the post war German artist and I believe that the history of Germany and Northern Ireland have some strong similarities. I think Belfast can be the next Berlin. My teachers at school thought I should concentrate on academia instead of art. Unfortunately, I went along with it but art has always been with me. I suppose I am self taught but to be honest my father taught me everything I know. I hope I can pass on half as much to my boys as they grow.
